The text, Visual design solutions: Principles and creative inspiration for learning professionals states, "During pre-attentive perception, the brain gathers sensory information before a person is paying attention to it" (p 183). It goes on to say that certain features stand out among others, including color, orientation, size, and depth. The original image did not utilize any of these features to create emphasis or contrast. Some text was larger or in bold, but there wasn't a good use of contrast to highlight important information. There was also no unity among the features and color was not utilized to emphasize or group key information.
To address these issues, I offset the title of the business in a brighter, contrasting color in the center to first draw the viewer's eye. I then divided and grouped the information using color contrast. I used complementary colors as well as size and weight to differentiate key information. The title is much larger and bolder as well as the 3 main category titles of information.
